VERSA Studios Partners with Cloud Imperium Games to Launch the UK’s Leading Permanent Motion Capture Studios in the Heart of Manchester’s City Centre

VERSA Studios has partnered with international independent games developer Cloud Imperium Games to establish the UK’s leading permanent Motion Capture Games Studio in Manchester’s City Centre. Work on the studio began in June 2022, creating a bespoke production home for Cloud Imperium Games at VERSA Manchester Studios, enhancing the company’s UK operations.

The Motion Capture studio is part of a larger Cloud Imperium Games campus in Manchester, complementing their studios in Austin, Frankfurt, and Montreal, and their HQ in Los Angeles. Cloud Imperium Games’ motion capture team has taken up residence in VERSA Manchester’s 4,300 sq ft Studio 6.

Gaming content for both their crowd-funded space simulation game, Squadron 42, and their multiplayer universe simulation game, Star Citizen, known for their boundary-pushing visuals and extraordinary fidelity, are shot in this new state-of-the-art motion capture studio facility to ensure the highest quality gaming experience.

The release of the series Joan, starring Sophie Turner and Frank Dillane, premieres this Sunday on ITV1.

It tells the story of Joan Hannington, a fiery and uncompromising woman in her 20s, is a devoted mother to her 6-year-old daughter, Kelly, but is trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary. When Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the opportunity to create a new life for herself and her daughter.

This highly anticipated series included some scenes filmed at VERSA London, where our team provided studios and production facilities to support the project.
